VIA FERRATA
A safe challenge for all ages
Push your limits at 200m above the valley
Enjoy the wonderful Giffre valley and her authentic villages

WHAT IS VIA FERRATA?

A via ferrata is a mountain climbing route that uses a steel lifeline and facilities attached to the rock to greatly facilitate your path. Climbers are equipped with absorbent lanyards and move along the track as on a tree climbing track.

EXPERIENCED AND CERTIFIED GUIDE

The ever smiling Rodrigo Moraga knows all the secrets of the route. He is a certified via ferrata guide and has almost 20 years of experience. With humor, enthusiasm and patience he has guided hundreds of families and groups into their adventure.

Not only does he know the technicalities, he can also suggest you the nicest spots to spend your day in the Giffre valley, like at the Cascade du Rouget and le Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval, both at a stone's throw from the via ferrata location.

VIA FERRATA GEAR

You will wear a harness  with a special via ferrata set with two shock absorbers and two carabiners. You will be attached to the steel cable at all times. You will also wear a a helmet. These items will be provided by Coeur De Montagne. We advise you to wear flexible clothing in which you can move freely. A pair of closed trainers with good grip are necessary, you can't join on flip flops or sandals. Don't forget to use sunscreen and to bring a bottle of water.

FOR WHOM?

Via ferrata is suitable for all people with basic physicial condition. Families, groups, couples: everybody can join the adventure. For children the minimum age is approximately 8 years, depending on their height and strength, they too will love it! The maximum group size is 10 persons. When your group is bigger, please contact us, such that we can find you a solution.

For those who cannot or do not want to join we suggest to visit the Gorges de Tines. This is a gorge close to the location of the via ferrata. You can do a small walk or watch the participants from the road (binoculars recommended).

LOCATION, GATHERING, TIME AND DURATION

Coeur De Montage would like to bring you to Via Ferrata du Mont, in the Giffre valley. You will take your own car to arrive at the gathering spot at the bottom of the gondola in the pittoresque village of Samoëns. This a 60 minute minute drive from Flaine. You will follow the road to the valley and you will pass the villages of Les Carroz and Arâches-La-Frasse. In Arâches-La-Frasse you turn right directly after the church and you follow the road to Chatillon-sur-Cluses. Here you will pass the col and you will continue your drive to pass Morillon to arrive in Samoëns. At the parking of the Grand Massif Express you will receive the necessary gear and from there it is a just a short drive to the starting point of the via ferrata.

TAKE CARE NOT TO LEAVE ANY VALUABLE ITEMS IN YOUR CAR

We offer via ferrata tours in the evening, starting at 18:00 h. This is to avoid the heat of the afternoon and to have the track to ourselves. A via ferrata tour takes 2.5-3 hours and always starts from the gathering spot.

You can spend an entire day in the beautiful Giffre valley. We recommend you do so and pay a visit to

- the majestic Cascade du Rouget (reachable by car), where you can also have lunch or dinner

- le cirque du Fer-à-Cheval where numerous waterfalls are plummeting in a horse shoe shaped valley.

- le Bout du Monde for a nice and easy walk along the river in a fantastic environment

- Samoëns, an authentic village with an outdoor pool, but also a lake to swim in

- le Lac Bleu in Morillon, a beautiful lake with a sandy beach, having a tree top climbing facility and a midget golf right next to it

- le Gorge de Tines - see the rafts pass the gorge or go on a small walk through the old gorge.

Our favorite restaurants in the area:

- Auberge de la Cascade du Rouget, Route du Lignon, 74740 Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval

- Le Rouet, 1260 Route de la Cascade du Rouget, 74740 Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval

- La Reposette: 60 Route du Fayet, 74340 Samoëns
